The Summer Special Events intern will help plan and produce a juried ceramics show, art exhibitions, free concerts, nonprofit fundraisers, and other special events. Duties will include marketing events to artists and audiences, managing social media, and overseeing guest hospitality. The position allows the intern to oversee his/her/their own projects from start to finish while exposing him/her/them to the myriad tasks our staff performs to make a multidisciplinary arts center successful. This position will work approximately 15-20 hours per week from June through September.
The successful candidate must be interested in community arts programming. He/she/they must be able to work independently as well as cooperatively and possess excellent writing and speaking skills. Previous experience in marketing, public relations, or social media is preferred but not required.
McGroarty Arts Center provides access to the arts through in-depth arts instruction and experiences. Affordable multidisciplinary arts education is offered to at-risk youth, children, and families, as are performances, exhibitions, and events that engage the greater public. The Center is a venue for artists to present their work, while preserving the legacy of John Steven and Ida McGroarty and their historic home.
