The Assistant in the School for the Performing and Visual Arts will assist staff with the Summer Arts Camp and regular SPVA activities, including working with teachers and youth,clerical and computer data input duties, and event planning and participation. The SPVA Intern will work closely with the effort to document and prepare online instructional videos and demonstrations by the teaching faculty, in order to foster PDLR's online presence beyong the quarantine. The Intern will also support the instructors in resourcing templates and methods for curriculum development, which will be changing for the online instruction. This position will work approximatley 20-30 hours a week from June through September.
The ideal candidate will have computer skills and an interest in arts and culture as well as arts education, working with youth and working with community. The candidate will be able to work in a team as well as conduct their duties in an independent mode when needed. The candidate will have a working knowledge of computers and database management, be able to communicate on the phone as well as engage the public as needed, and the ideal candidate will be fluent in English and Spanish. Flexible schedule will be a plus.
Plaza de la Raza is a community based Latino Arts and Cultural center located in the heart of East Los Angeles. Plaza hosts the School of Performing and Visual arts for over 5300 local children each year, and is also a presenter of music, dance, theatre, folk and traditional practices and annual events, such as the Day of the Dead. Plaza presents multi-disciplined programming, low cost or free, year round, and hosts the School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
