The Artistic Producing Intern will work approximately 20 hours per week from June through October and will receive one-on-one mentorship with venerated producers to learn what it takes to produce a play from early stages to the finished product. Artistic Producing Interns will work on HERO Theatre’s 2022 season, specifically the pre-production workshops for 2-3 projects and the rehearsals and full production of another. Interns will have opportunities to work directly with a variety of theatre artists including producers, playwrights, directors, designers, and actors and will learn about casting, dramaturgy, producing workshops, and producing a full artistic production.

We are seeking a team player who understands that being a part of the team at HERO Theatre means to be in service to communities in need. We’re seeking a self-starter, who enjoys working with a team, and who is enthusiastic about the work at hand. Someone who can follow directions and follow through without having to be micro-managed. Applicants should have excellent written and oral communication skills and basic administrative and typing skills. Some experience with Microsoft Office software preferred, particularly Word and Excel. Experience with Adobe is a plus.

After an inspiring conversation with fellow cast-mate, Olympia Dukakis—who encouraged Bocanegra to start her own company—Bocanegra, who comes from humble beginnings, started HERO Theatre to elevate artists from underrepresented communities & has created a flourishing company. HERO is known for being a safe place for artists of color to practice their craft and draws a widespread LA audience.
