Description

Red Hen Press, an independent nonprofit publishing house in Pasadena, CA, facilitates the Fundraising Benefit Internship. Over the course of the internship, the intern will work with the Benefit Coordinator to plan and organize Red Hen’s largest fundraiser of the year: the 28th Annual Benefit Champagne Luncheon, which annually attracts nearly 300 attendees, including some of the nation’s most acclaimed authors. This internship is intended for applicants seeking hands-on experience in event planning, fundraising, and public relations for a nonprofit arts organization.  Interns will be working from June through November, and should be available for 20-32 hours a week. Exact dates and hours can be negotiated to accommodate the intern's schedule.

Qualifications

Applicants should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with Access or Salesforce is a plus, but not required as training will be provided on this in-demand skills. We are looking for an intern with a positive and upbeat attitude who is comfortable representing Red Hen Press over the phone and via email. Strong written and verbal communication skills combined with a polite personality make a great candidate. The intern must be able to manage deadlines, balance multiple responsibilities, work individually with initiative, and communicate effectively with peers when collaboration is necessary. Previous experience in fundraising or event planning is preferred, but we also enjoy working with self-starters who are eager to learn. An interest in and/or knowledge of literature is essential.
