The Community Engagement Intern will play a key support role for the Griffith Park Free Shakespeare Festival, an entire summer of classical theater presented free to thousands of Angelenos. The intern will liaise with and coordinate special community engagement events, including promoting these events. Duties will include preparing, maintaining, and organizing the elements used to communicate to audiences and the public. The intern will also be on-site during performances of the Festival, interacting directly with audience members to ensure they have a positive experience. This position will work approximately 30 hours a week from June through September/October.
The intern must be a team player and a self-starter, possessing strong interpersonal skills. The intern should also possess a strong interest in audience engagement, marketing, and the performing arts, as well as a desire to learn about all aspects of event marketing. The intern should have knowledge and competency of customer relations, social media, and computer skills (Microsoft Office, Hootsuite, etc.). Interest in theater is a plus, as is familiarity with graphic design or video editing. Fluency or familiarity with another language is also a plus but not required. The intern should be flexible, positive, collaborative, and enthusiastic. They should be able to problem-solve and not be afraid of getting their hands dirty. The intern should be able to learn quickly, speak knowledgeably about ISC programs, and maintain a sunny disposition when interacting with audience members. Evening and weekend hours will be required. Reliable transportation is also required.
