Description

The Memories in the Making Program Intern will be responsible for the delivery of the Memories in the Making visual arts project, a project hosted at various community-based social service agencies and residential facilities that provides support and an opportunity for emotional expression to older adults living with a dementia. Memories in the Making is a unique fine arts therapy project developed for people with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders with the aim of offering them a new, creative, and nonverbal way of communicating and capturing precious moments through art. This position will work approximately 15 hours a week from June through February.

Qualifications

Alzheimer’s LA will be looking for the following specialized skills:

  • Computer literate (MS Office, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Willingness/flexibility to work with the older adult population.
  • Interest or experience in arts-related activities.
  • Ability to interact with people from diverse social, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to travel locally.
  • California driver license and proof of automobile insurance and/or reliable transportation preferred.
