About the Program
Since its inception in 1947 as the Music Commission, the Department of Arts and Culture has administered funding for free concerts at venues throughout LA County as part of the Free Concerts in Public Sites Program. From June to October, concerts have been held in parks, outdoor amphitheaters, community centers, libraries, museums and more, and feature LA County artists from the Musicians Roster, representing a broad range of genres including Americana, blues, Caribbean, cumbia, mariachi, jazz, klezmer, pop, rock, and R&B.
