Description

Paid internship position to support public art initiatives in the greater San Pedro area. Interns will be expected to work 15-20 hours per week, for six months from June 2022 - January 2023. Prospective interns with varied arts experiences, exemplary organization skills and remote working experience will be considered.

Qualifications

We expect the prospective intern to be well versed in basic office programs like Word, Excel and other similar programs or applications. Experience in graphic design, knowledge/execution of effective social media strategies and written communication skills. Willingness to conduct on-line research to understand creative placemaking best practices. Basic photography and videography

Background

The mission of the San Pedro Waterfront Arts District (Arts District) is to promote San Pedro's diverse arts, culture and creative economy through advocacy marketing and community education activities. As a naturally occurring Arts District since the 1930s, many artists and arts organizations moved to San Pedro and became vital to the community's vibrant arts and cultural life. The arts and historic waterfront are the Arts District's primary resources for providing social, cultural, physical and economic benefits to the surrounding community. The Arts District is home to over 40 art studios/galleries, over 25 unique, non-chain restaurants and may world class visual artists whose work is displayed in notable institutions.
