The technical theater intern will work alongside the producing artistic director in producing shows in a stage management capacity. Aside from assisting in the technical elements of the shows, there will be everything from the occasional clerical duties, to sitting in on auditions, to tackling some social media, to painting a set, to working on production crew, and everything in between. The intern will have access to every corner of what the Torrance Theatre Company is doing, and have the ability to shape parts of their internship to be something that is rooted in their own interests and passion. Estimated timeframe for the internship is between June 15 and the end of September, working between 15-40 hours per week, based on availability.
The Torrance Theatre Company is looking for someone who is organized, proactive, enthusiastic, and ready for a fast-paced and exciting adventure. Experience in technical theatre is useful, whether stage management (preferred), lighting or sound design, scenic design or construction, or scenic painting. The successful candidate will possess solid word-processing skills (Microsoft Word), and be able to manage other programs (Outlook, Excel, Power Point), or the mac equivalent. A valid California driver's license.
