Description

Culture Shock LA is seeking a dynamic individual and creative thinker to work with our management team to advance our fundraising and program capabilities. This position will support our donor cultivation and grant writing activities, and also have a voice in developing our programs and their online presence. The intern's primary responsibilities may include researching potential grants and corporate sponsorship opportunities; reviewing program assessment tools and analyzing data to evaluate program effectiveness; supporting program activities and trainings; and cultivating connections with potential funders and community/program partners. In addition, this position may also be actively engaged in helping devise and execute communication strategies that expand awareness of Culture Shock LA and its programs and events. We anticipate our intern will work approximately 15-20 hours a week over a 5 month period. 

Qualifications

Desired skills:  - Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills - Excellent writing skills - Outgoing and creative thinker - Self-starter able to work effectively both independently and with a team - Comfortable using a variety of social media platforms - Proficiency in internet-based research and use of Microsoft Office Suite - Flexible and able to multi-task - Knowledge of graphic design software is a plus

Background

Culture Shock Los Angeles is a nonprofit dance and arts education organization utilizing Hip Hop dance and culture to cultivate meaningful education, enrichment and engagement programs that inspire positive change in the communities we serve. The organization strives to highlight the positive attributes of the Hip Hop culture by teaching leadership skills, a positive work ethic, teamwork, and self-respect alongside training in performing arts fundamentals.
