The Koreatown Storytelling Program Intern will work closely with the Senior Editor in running a multilingual, multiethnic intergenerational oral history and community journalism program, which includes interviews, oral histories, portraits and photo essays, as well as audio and video output. The KSP Intern will help coordinate and lead bimonthly workshops, edit and format content for digital and print publication, and will manage small microprojects—podcasts, social media campaigns, mini-publications—from beginning to end. This position will work approximately 15 hours a week from June 2022 through March 2023. For this school-year cohort, KSP will focus on the Food Industry in Koreatown, which will include interviews with small business/restaurant owners, as well as culinary workshops, which will include learning how to make traditional foods from our community, such as curtido and kimchi.

Qualifications

Interest in storytelling, photography, art, oral history and/or community journalism Deep commitment to community-based work and addressing the needs of underserved children and families. Interest in marketing, public relations, content creation and documentation. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Strong writing, research, communication and critical-thinking skills. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), or strong desire to learn. Willingness to learn Squarespace, social media, and other relevant software.

Today, KYCC is the leading multi-service organization in Koreatown, supporting children and their families in the areas of education, health, housing, and finances.
