Jody Zellen uses text as visual vocabulary to address themes related to architecture and urban life, involving the integration of historical and contemporary imagery. Her work also includes interactive installations and applications for hand held electronic devices.
Zellen received her Master of Professional Studies in the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University and her MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. She is a recipient of a California Community Foundation Mid-Career Artist Fellowship, Center for Cultural Innovation Artistic Innovation Grant, City of Santa Monica Artist Fellowship, City of Los Angeles Individual Artist Fellowship, Durfee Foundation Artists’ Resource for Completion Grant, California Arts Council Individual Fellowship and Aaron Siskind Fellowship. She has had several artist residencies and exhibits internationally.
