Michael Parker

About

Michael Parker’s practice explores individual agency and collective action. He employs sculptures, publications and events to explore ideas of temporality, absurdity, pragmatism, hierarchy and consumption, and regularly engages with unexpected partners such as construction workers, linemen-in-training and sauna enthusiasts.

Parker holds a BA from Pomona College and an MFA from the University of Southern California. He teaches sculpture at California State University, Long Beach. He has worked with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Clockshop, Human Resources, Machine Project, Public Fiction, California State Parks, Center for Land Use Interpretation and High Desert Test Sites.
