<p>A piano and a piano bench. A projector and screen for my power point presentation is helpful, but not necessary. Additionally, I can also give lecture-presentations on the healing power of music (based on history and neuroscience) with recorded music and videos.</p>
About
Doctor Pianist, Makiko Hirata, D.M.A. is a versatile classically-trained pianist performing not just standard piano repertoire from Bach and Rachmaninoff, but also obscure compositions from pre-Bach keyboard repertoire and Dichotomie by Esa-Pekka Salonen. She is passionate about bringing down the fourth wall between the performer and audience, making her presentation interactive and participatory. She also believes in artistic experience as a human right, and that a communal experience of music reminds us that what we share is greater than our differences. She has a doctorate in musical arts from Rice University, and has performed with international orchestras, ensembles, and wind/string instrumentalists.
