Louie most often works with a quintet: Keyboard, electric bass, drums, sax/flute (reeds) and Louie on congas and vocals. He also plays timbales and all the small percussion instruments. His bands have varied from his usual quintet to a nonet - adding 2 horns, vibes and small percussion.
