Description

The intern be doing 10-20 hours per week and will be assigned to various job duties while working with the lead/supervisor in Living Arts Long Beach.  Such as preparation for class and guests artists, help with mentoring and monitoring student at our various locations when we conduct the workshop. The intern will also assist in any extra workload such as presenting art work, taking and documenting class progress to be presented in the end of the program art exhibition.  The intern will also assist in other areas as well, such as press release for exhibition preparation and presentation feedbacks, student and workforce field trips. The intern will help organize and plan field trips and social functions, coordinate art program with guest artist and key partners, assist in outreach, do promotional material and co-facilitate art workshops with lead and guest artists and partners.

Qualifications

The intern will learn about client support, customer services and the community of Cambodia Town and Long Beach.  They will also learn about conducting a meeting and sharing out on projects with the UCC team.  They will also learn how to work with different departments and people with different personality in the office and navigating the work environment.  1. Professionalism, communication within the office setting 2. Social media, Word program and Adobe Creative Suites or something similar will be helpful 3. Team meeting and staff support 4. Customer service 5. Research and development 

Background

We like the intern to have some focus and life goal, as they will also be mentoring and setting a good example to the youths, elders and the community at large. We require the intern to have a good communication skill, inter-personal skills with students and staffs. Intern must be able to do basic office job skills, such as organizing, taking directions well and able to use and have basic computer skill to do research and office work.  • Experience in visual arts and/or related field in the arts • Computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel) • Strong written and oral communication skills • Experience in social media (Facebook, Instagram) • Understanding of the Cambodian community and Long Beach community • Detailed orientated, self-starter, collaborator and able to interact with diverse populations
